How do you know where you are going, if you do not know where you have come from?
Generally we try have some activity each month. This may be a lecture by a guest speaker, musical entertainment, tours, trips, or dinners. On occasions we join other societies for combined events. These meetings or events are open to the general public, however, preference is given to the membership of the Historical Society if space is limited.
Meeting are free to everyone unless there are extraordinary expenses such as bus rental, hall rental, honorariums, etc. These costs are partially born by the Society, however in some cases, admission may be charged.
We try to have an outline of the speakers and events drawn up at our December business meeting, however, the events are often changed because of the unavailability of the speaker or the event.
The Society Newsletter is published each month and the event for that month is described on the first page along with its location, times, transportation arrangements and costs, if applicable. It is strongly recommended that you consult the newsletter before heading out to the event.
Meetings are also advertised in the local papers, the EMCwestcarleton.
Our meetings are usually held the third Tuesday in the evening at the Memorial Hall in Carp or during the afternoon if the event is a tour.
